Common Colors  (*We are only covering colors that are acceptable for AKC conformation showing.  There are other naturally occurring  colors for the breed. We may add the others at some point, but we don't breed for the secondary colors)

I.  Tri

   A.  Tan points

   B.   Brindle points  (Some have obvious brindle points on their faces, while others are barely discernable, but there are no genetically black and white Cardigans.  Their points may be masked by white, but genetically, they have them.)

II.  Red

III  Brindle  (many shades that range from yellow or bright red w/stripes to almost black with barely discernable stripes)

IV   Merle  (there are various shades and amounts of black within the merle pattern)

    A. Tan points

    B.  Brindle points

V   Sable

VI   Mismarks -   Mismarks either have more body white than the standard calls for or have white in the "wrong" places.  There's nothing wrong with these Cardigans other than nature didn't put their coloration in the right places for showing them.  Mismarks are sought after because of their flash and beauty for pets and are fine for performance and obedience.

VII  Fluffs - Cardigan fluffs  - simply have longer coats than called for by the standard.  Fluffs are some of the most spectacular looking Cardigans around.  They make wonderful pets and require only a bit more grooming.  Some Cardigans can be genetically tested to be fluffs and still aren't "flaming" fluffs, but only have longer ear fringe and fuller, flagging tails.
